Cardiff Classics is pleased to present this 1967 Volkswagen Panel Bus that was the subject of a recently completed four-year restoration that involved complete disassembly and refurbishment of the body, chassis, drivetrain, interior, and electrical systems. Finished in Mouse Grey with Pearl White accents, the bus has been thoughtfully upgraded with a rebuilt 1835cc engine, front disc brakes, extensive sound deadening, and a custom interior featuring teak woodwork and Porsche Luxor Beige leather. The build was completed as a companion project to a rare 1955 Porsche Mikafa Sport motorhome, with both vehicles shown together at Palm Springs Modernism Week in February 2025.Body & Exterior
The body, frame, and interior were soda blasted to bare metal, and any corrosion or damage was repaired using new metal panels. All welding and spot welds were performed to factory specifications. The exterior is finished in Mouse Grey base/clearcoat, while the roof, bumpers, and wheels are finished in Pearl White single-stage urethane. The frame was stripped, treated with POR-15, sanded, primed, and refinished in Mouse Grey single-stage urethane.
Exterior details include:
- All new exterior lighting
- Euro-style headlights with new buckets and lenses
- New running and brake light lenses
- Custom teak hardwood roof rack rails with stainless steel hardware
- Five new Goodyear AT radial tires mounted on stock steel wheels
The interior was fully refinished and sound-deadened using Dynamat throughout the front, rear, roof, and rear deck, resulting in a notably quiet cabin at freeway speeds. Seating consists of rebuilt original seats upholstered in Porsche Luxor Beige leather, complemented by a matching leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Additional interior features include:
- Custom door panels and headliner in grey herringbone laminate with plywood backers
- Teak hardwood rear panels and trim
- Hidden, dimmable warm LED lighting in the cab and rear
- Black wool German squareweave carpet throughout (custom made, not a kit)
- All new window and door seals
- Original glass retained in the cab door sliders and rear hatch
- New safari windows and vent windows
Instrumentation & Electrical
All wiring harnesses, connectors, and switches were replaced during the restoration. Instrumentation includes a new ISP speedometer with integrated tachometer, along with fuel and oil temperature gauges. A discreet backup camera is installed with a screen mounted under the dashboard.

Power comes from a brand new rebuilt 1835cc air-cooled flat-four, equipped with:
- Dual Weber 40 carburetors
- Pertronix ignition
- Vintage Speed linkage
Brakes & Chassis
- Front disc brake conversion
- New master cylinder and all new brake lines
- Rear drum brakes rebuilt with German wheel cylinders
- Complete nut-and-bolt restoration with every component inspected, restored, or replaced
- Built to complement a rare Porsche coachbuilt motorhome
