The Audi R8 is a limited production model named after the 5 time winner of the 24 Hour of Le Mans, engineered to be a daily driver Supercar.Employing Audi's "Space Frame" technology, the shell is extremely lightweight and stiff allowing for better safety, handling and negating the need for excessively high doorsills frequently found in other sports cars. The engine is a direct injected naturally aspirated V8 with an 8000 RPM redline that produces 420HP. It has been described as a work of art, which perhaps explains why it is displayed below a pane of glass towards the rear of the vehicle. It is a brilliant piece of engineering and one of a few engines that produces 100HP per liter.
Power is delivered via a metal gated 6 speed manual transmission to Audi's "Quattro" all-wheel-drive system that maintains a rear wheel bias that improves handling and stability.
Sitting behind the wheel will quickly reveal how Audi has so many interior design awards. The materials are top notch, everything is arranged around the driver, and there is enough room for even the tallest drivers.
