Cardiff Classics is pleased to present this well cared for collectible classic - the Volkswagen "Thing."Originally built as a military vehicle for the German military, its low maintenance costs and reliability made it popular for the armed forces of most European NATO countries as well as families alike. By the late 1970's, most European nations were purchasing the Thing for use as a military vehicle, and thousands of families around the world added it to their garage as personal vehicles.
In the United States, the Thing was seen as a fun car as nothing else on the road looked quite like it. And the fact that it shared parts with the Beetle and Microbus meant maintenance and repairs were easy to come by.
The Thing was imported into the United States for only two years, 1973 and 1974, making it an almost instant collectible.
